Adam's Sitemap
In response to several requests, and in an attempt to figure out just how much stuff I've written, this is a listing of all the full pages on Adam's site. Pages are listed in reverse chronological order. I've included pages on the server at uchicago.edu, those related to official statistics subjects.
For shorter pieces written after 2004, look at Mathematics After The Fall, my not-a-blog. The former Musings appear there, neatly categorized. In some cases, it may not be obvious if the posts appear in Musings or over here, particularly for multipart musings on a subject. Basically, theme pages stay here, while scattershot posts are on MATF. When in doubt, you can search the MATF linklist; the right column has links to the multipart tales.
There are several sections outside the chronological structure: frequently updated pages such as favorite TV shows, transcribed articles, photograph pages, and link pages. They appear after the chronological updates.
2008
2007
2006
2005
- On Benedict XVI: A new pope, a small hope, about Catholic hierarchy, though I think Catholic culture is going in the wrong direction.
- The Dating Game: Marriage, singlehood, and my dating ad. Humorous but still quite personal.
- Stations of the Cross: The starting page for my online version, which have a very Biblical and Christo-centric focus.
- Romanticism Index: The Romanticism subsite page, including the Society for Romanticism posters.
- Romanticism Quotes: A small page of my favorite comments on beauty, passion, and love.
- Yakaitis Resigns: A very personal musing about the painful week beginning Shrove Tuesday 2005.
- The Four Failures: Negative recollections on my 30th birthday, about my shortcomings. By writing them, I hope to counter them.
2004
- Church Reports: Thinking about American Catholicism through the perspective of two visits, one to a very progressive parish, and one to a very retrogressive community.
- Personal Romanticism: The first indication of my hopeless romanticism on this site, and the beginning of the Society for Romanticism Pages.
- Statistics Interests: As the title suggests, what and why I study in the field.
- Depression Testimony: The first major depression piece, talking about the feelings and pattern of my clinical depression. This is not for the faint of heart.
- Hope and Worth: The second major depression piece, talking about my behavioral flaws, lack of hope and lack of worth.
2003
- Church Seating: I did some research on church seating, and since almost all of the sources are proprietary, I put my results into the public domain. As one professional noted, I got it basically right.
- Bowling Alone: A book review on Bowling Alone, with reference to Bowling for Columbine.
- Faith Questions: Some questions about my personal faith. Because the title includes "dating game questions", this gets a lot of search results, which is rather humorous.
- Interfaith: Protestants and Catholics: My thoughts on the interplay in America and my life.
2002
- Power: On power and groups, much of my intellectual reading between 1998 and 2000. Also, one of the few pages negatively linked by others, because of a throwaway anti-Israel comment when talking about the torture book.
- World Trade Center: One of the few true blog entries, from September 11, 2002.
- Left Behind: A book review on the series that should properly be called fantasy fiction, less negative than I first thought.
- Quotes: A small collection of quotes about statistics, including some I couldn't find elsewhere.
2001
- On Buffy: About my favorite TV show, why buffy is still worth watching, at least the prime-numbered seasons.
- Extensions: Justice and mercy in teaching, looking at granting extensions from both perspectives.
- Faith: My personal testimony, talking about faith an reason, and some links.
- RQ 7.2: Reviewing an issue of Regeneration Quarterly, faith and culture, from 2001.
- A Note on Cohabitation: My advice to a friend and his fiance against living together before marriage.
