Over Christmas break, I took a drive down to Bal-Wash, the name for the giant urban area containing
Baltimore and Washington, though it's not Asimov's Caves of Steel. Yet. I went mostly to close
out my old bank account and transfer those funds to my current one. A great added benefit was
touring the memorials and hanging out with folks from my past. In at least one case, an eight
year past. And in another case, a small goodess of destruction I met for the first time.
A pretty shot over the Potomac at about 4:20 PM.

Jack Abramoff copies my style, but not my ethics.

The famous bread line wall from the FDR Memorial.

The District of Columbia World War Memorial. Dedicated in 1931, that means World War I.
There are many of these little known places in the district.

The black helicopters can now circle openly.

A long shot of the World War II Memorial, my first sighting. It's much less intrusive
than I feared, and doesn't look out of place.

One end, interestingly to the South, not the West.

The interior of the memorial. The pool is drained.
|
Little lights, which represent something, I'm sure. Maybe I should read the flyer.

The other end of the memorial.

This is really just restoration, so construct your own joke about the Bush administration.

Beatrice was ready for this one, and looks great.

Bea was proud of her thin, natural tree, so I had to capture it.

It's impressive enough for a night photo, too.

Baltimore, which has big ships.
