We adore you, Christ, and we praise you.
Because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the World.

John, chapter 19, verses 39 to 42. Nicodemus, who had at first come to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, weighing about a hundred pounds. They took the body of Jesus and wrapped it with the spices in linen cloths, according to the burial custom of the Jews. Now there was a garden in the place where he was crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation, and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end.

Lie down and sleep in peace for a little while, dear Lord, and then wake for an everlasting reign. All our treasure, all our life, is lodged with you. When our turn comes to die, grant, sweet Lord, that we may sleep calmly too, the sleep of the just. And let us remember those with you now, in the kingdom. Let your mercy shine upon them, Lord.
